Day 1: Kampala – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Your tour guide will meet at the hotel in Kampala or pick from Entebbe International Airport and transfer to the western part of the country to Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda’s most-visited Park and known for its wildlife, including hippos, leopards, elephants, lions, and chimpanzees; the park also hosts over 95 species of mammal and over 500 species of birds. Before you connect to the park, you will have an en-route stop at the equator for lunch and even try out a simple experiment to experience a tropical balance, visit the art and craft shop, and thereafter continue to Mbarara for lunch and to continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight will be at Mweya Safari Lodge / Kyambura Game / Katara Lodge / Enganzi Lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park
On this day, you will wake up early in the morning for a cup of tea or coffee and transfer for an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks looking for animals like lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, waterbucks, kobs, mangoose and, if you are fortunate, the leopards are often spotted.
Return for a full breakfast, unwind and get ready for yet another amazing activity in the afternoon. After lunch, you will enjoy a memorable two hours boat ride on the Kazinga Channel where you will get an opportunity to see and photograph different water-loving animals and birds. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge as on day one.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Kampala
After your breakfast, enjoy morning game drive before you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park famously known as the Ishasha sector the home to the rare tree-climbing lions in Fig and acacia trees. You continue with your journey to Bwindi Forest the home to half of the worlds remaining population of mountain gorillas. You will have dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas / Gorilla Resort / Gorilla Mist Camp / Nkuringo Gorilla Camp / Wagtail Eco Safari Camp.
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Tracking Adventure.
Take early morning breakfast and prepare for the unforgettable adventure of your life. Ready with your tracking gears plus your parked lunch, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts while on the trek.
The time taken searching for these humble Giant apes is unpredictable; however, it can take from 2-8 hours depending on where they send the night and their movements in search for food. Tracking goes through steep climbing up and down however, the thrill of encountering these giant primates erases all the bad memories you passed through while trying to look for them in the this think jungle. After you will be given a full hour in the presence of these animals trying to learn more about them, their daily life as you take photos and videos to act as remembrance. Then after you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as at day three.
Day 5: Transfer to Rwanda
On this day, you will wake you early enough for breakfast at the lodge and cross the border to Rwanda at Cyanika border and drive to Volcanoes National Park. At your arrival, you will visit Ruhengeri town and after that transfer to your hotel for relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / Kinigi Guesthouse.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After a morning breakfast report to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park for a briefing on dos and donts’ while you with gorillas. You will be allocated to a specific gorilla group for tracking with respect to your physical abilities. At around 8:00 AM local time you will transfer to the starting point of gorilla trekking. With your well prepared packed lunch, trekking boots and other equipment required for gorilla trekking set off to the jungle. The time taken to track the gorillas is unpredictable and it ranges between 2 – 8 hours depending on their movement. However, the encounter after the vigorous trekking is stunning. Return to the lodge for lunch, dinner, and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla view lodge / La Palme Hotel / Le Bambou gorilla lodge / Muhabura Hotel / Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge / Virunga Lodge.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali.
Have breakfast at the lodge and drive back to Kigali. You may wish to participate in a city tour including a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial center, local markets, and national museum among others. Then transfer to the airport to meet your departure flight.
