7 Days Gorilla Trekking and Wildlife Tour – Uganda Safari
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to the Volcanoes National Park
Our guide will pick you from the airport, drive you to the northern part of the country to Volcanoes National Park the home to the rare and endangered mountain gorillas, viewing the beautiful scenery of the Virunga Volcanoes. Dinner and overnight at Kinigi Guest House / Hotel La Palme / Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes National Park
On this day, you will wake up very early for breakfast at the lodge and then transfer to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park where you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the mountain gorillas in the jungle. Time taken while tracking gorillas is unpredictable because they always move from one place to another looking for food and new home, but the tracking time range from 2-8hours. So it is advisable to request for packed lunch from the lodge because you might come back from gorilla trekking when it’s already late. After tracking these gentle giants, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour to spend with them as you take photos, recording videos and also observe them as they do their daily work. Then after you will return to the lodge for evening relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Visit Dian Fossey Tombs
With the previous day memories you will go to tour the tombs of Dian Fossey who was a great lover of Mountain Gorillas. Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon transfer to Akagera National park, this is a home of a variety of wildlife namely Elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, waterbucks, roan antelope, common or cape eland, hippopotamuses, Burchell’s zebras, sitatunga, olive common baboons, crocodiles, giraffes, little bee-eaters, marabou stock black headed gonolek, open-billed stork, robin charts among others. Dinner and overnight at Akagere Game Lodge / Ruzizi tented camp.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Early morning breakfast, on words for the game drive to catch up with the early riser and predators returning to their hiding places, expect to see a variety of wild animals like Giraffes, Elephants, Buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks to mention but a few. Besides animals, you will also see many bird species like little bee-eaters, open-billed stork, marabou stock black headed gonolek, robin charts. Return to Lodge for lunch as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise at Lake Ihema. While enjoying a boat trip, you will see crocodiles, Hippos and many birds, the boat provides a clear platform for photographing. Return to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game Drive – Akegera National Park
After morning breakfast, with your lunch box and drinking water, you will do a long game drive that will lead to a swamp where there’s always a concentration of different wild animals and onwards to another western gate of the park. Return to your Lodge for relaxation while enjoying the view of the park, share great memories as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Return to Kigali for City Tour
Enjoy your breakfast and transfer to Kigali, visit the Gisozi genocide memorial, Local Art and craft shops, National Museum and so on. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel, Manor Hotel or Chez Lando Hotel.
Day 7: Departure
After an African breakfast, Visit fruit markets, do last minute shopping and transfer to Kigali International Airport for you scheduled flight.
