Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
You will be met by our driver/guide at Kigali International Airport then transfer to Kigali for a city tour including a genocide memorial site and shopping of African art and craft. Have dinner and overnight at the Intercontinental Hotel /Chez Lando Hotel/Okapi Hotel / Step Town Hotel / Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, you will be met by our staff guide and proceed southeast to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On your arrival, you may decide to carry a guided nature walk where you will see Over 275 bird species recorded including the Ruwenzori Turaco, Ross’s turaco, Grey-cheeked hornbill, Red-throated alethe, Red-breasted sparrow hawk, White-headed Wood-hoopoe, Kungwe Apalis, Ruwenzori batis, Blue-headed and Regal sunbirds and so many primates, dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House / Nyungwe Forest Lodge / Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel.
Day 3: Do Chimpanzee Tracking, Colobus monkeys or Canopy walk
Early morning after breakfast go chimpanzees trekking, this can take anything from a few hours to a full day depending on where the chimpanzees are. There are several other primates in Nyungwe such as the Rwenzori colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, Silver monkey, Owl faced monkey and the Grey-cheeked Mangabey. Retire for lunch and go for Canopy walk or Colobus Monkey Tracking. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibuye
In the morning after breakfast, you will start your exploration of Lake Kivu. On your way, you will visit the Genocide Memorial center of Bisesero. Have lunch and some relaxation on the shores of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Molia Hill Lodge.
Day 5: Drive to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, go for an enjoyable, memorable speed-boat trip to Gisenyi and be picked up in Gisenyi for lunch. Immediately after lunch, drive to Ruhengeri or Kinigi for an overnight. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Mountain gorilla view lodge.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Have an early breakfast and be transferred to Kinigi Park Headquarter for briefing before you go Gorilla trekking in the forest. Trekking through the forest, hills, and swamps can be tough, strenuous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming in contact with the great primates is well worth the effort. You spend one hour take pictures with the gorillas and enjoy their way of life, this is truly an amazing experience. After lunch, we can take a nature walk to the beautiful Twin lake of Burera and Ruhondo or take a nature walk to nearby local communities, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Akagera National Park
In the morning after breakfast, you will meet with our office representative/guide who will drive you to the east of Rwanda reaching Akagera National Park. On your arrival at the park, carry out an afternoon game drive where you will be able to see a variety of birds and animals such as elephant, giraffe, buffalo, spotted hyena, hippo, and crocodiles. Check-in at Akagera Safari Lodge/ Ruzizi Tented Camp.
Day 8: Canoe Ride
After breakfast, you have two options, either go for a morning game drive in the park again or a canoe ride on Lake Ihema to see a large number of hippo, the huge Nile crocodile and birds. Dinner and overnight at your lodge as at day 7.
Day 9: Departure
Today is reserved for your departure; however, you may have an early morning game drive and later transfer to Kigali for your departure back home.
